What is the difference between fire door and normal door

A fire door is different from a regular door in several ways:

  1. Construction: Fire doors are constructed with fire-resistant materials such as solid cores, intumescent strips, and fire-resistant glass. We used mineral fiber wool for metal door and calcium silicate board and mineral fibre wool is used for wooden fire door. The materials used in fire doors are designed to resist the spread of fire and smoke, while regular doors are not.Fire doors can be made in both metal and wooden.
  2. Certification: Fire doors are tested and certified to meet specific fire resistance standards, such as those established by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the International Building Code (IBC). Regular doors do not undergo the same testing and certification process. We have CBRI Roorkee certification to be a well certified lab which certificate is valid for all indian projects.
  3. Ratings: Fire doors are rated based on how long they can withstand the heat and flames of a fire without allowing it to spread to other areas of the building. Ratings typically range from 20 minutes to 3 hours. Regular doors do not have fire resistance ratings.
  4. Hardware: Fire doors require specific hardware, such as fire-rated hinges, closers, and latches, that are designed to withstand high temperatures and resist the spread of fire and smoke. Regular doors may not have this type of hardware.Latch includes panic bar or push bar and mortise lock and dead lock matching the requirement of customer need.

Overall, fire doors are designed to resist the spread of fire and smoke, while regular doors are not. Fire doors are an important component of building safety and are required in many areas of a building to protect occupants and property in the event of a fire. For more blog click on
